C E Bonner Tool Company

The C E Bonner Tool Company was most noted for pipe wrenches. William S Bonner applied for a patent for a pipe wrench in 1902. There was no model for patent number 716,515 and no indication that it was ever manufactured. Clarence E Bonner acquired patent number 737,199 in 1903 with William a witness. The two wrenches are quite similar and carry both dates.
The C E Bonner Manufacturing Company was established in Crisman, Illinois in 1904. The company reorganized in 1913 as the Bonner Tool Company and had moved to Champaign, Illinois. Products included pry bars, auto tool kits, a chain pipe wrench and a quick-adjust pipe wrench. Their tools were sold under the Victor brand name.
A date of dissolution hasn’t been found but Clarence was involved with the Bonner-Charter Motor Company. This company was incorporated in 1917. Products were automotive and aircraft engines. A patent exists for the company in 1923 with Clarence having a New York address. No further information is available.
