George J Capewell was a hardware dealer who patented the Giant Nail Extractor in 1872. He began working on a nail manufacturing machine in 1876. He sold out in 1881 to concentrate on his machine. The Capewell Horse Nail Company was formed that year. His company would become the largest horse nail manufacturer in the world.
