George Plumpton

Herbert and George Plumpton were both listed in Warrington in 1911 and both making telegraph tools. Herbert as the Excelsior Tool Works and George as the Albion Works. Both had been active since the 1880s. The Albion Works was established in 1860. George would have needed a long career to have been involved. At least 65 years. Speculation points to John & Thomas Jolly.

Herbert and George merged in 1920 forming Sheffield Products Ltd. This merger involved at least 18 companies. Products included cutlery, files, saws, pliers, and spanners. The company was insolvent by 1922 and taken over by the government.
