K D Manufacturing was an important manufacturer of valve and ignition tools in the United States. Harry W Kulp and Martin C Dellinger developed a valve-spring lifter in 1919. Unique features included parallel jaws, interchangeable parts, and a ratcheting/locking mechanism. They began producing their valve tool themselves. C P Brewster soon began marketing for them enabling growth and innovation. Kulp & Dellinger maintained control of the company until selling in the 1950s.
