The Shawver Manufacturing Company made automobile jacks, tire tools, air pumps, and circle cutters. Charles I Shawver established the company in Springfield, Ohio in 1896. The E E Remsberg Manufacturing Company was added in 1905 when the owner retired. Remsberg was a Springfield Company which made a tire removal tool. Remsberg had also chartered the Western Manufacturing Company in 1900. Western made lathe tools. Brand names included Springfield, Starr-Springfield, and Ellipsograph.
