William B Lane sold the Unique brand of ratchet from 1910 until 1930. The ratchet was based on patent number 876,680 belonging to James P Bartholomy of Roxbury, Massachusetts. The first address was 180 N Dearborn Street in Chicago, Illinois. Then, in 1921, the address became 170 W Randolph Street. William died in his Randolph Street office on Nov 19, 1921 and the company moved to 422 S Dearborn Street shortly after. Advertisements by the company seemed to stop in the late twenties.
